About Me. I am Candace E. Salima, the author of 13 and 0: Reflections of Champions, Out of the Shadows . . . Into the Light, and co-author of the upcoming Forged in the Refiner's Fire, Vol. 1. I am a devout Latter-day Saint deeply intrigued by the doctrine of the scriptures, as well as modern prophets and apostles. My desire to fan the flame of literacy into a torch held high for one and all to see stems from my love of the gospel. Within the written words of the above mentioned sources are found the principles, precepts and practices that bring eternal happiness in a deep and abiding way. If one cannot read, how can the fullest extent of the eternal happiness offered to us be found?

LDS Fiction has been compared to biblical parables -- fictional stories which teach principles. I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment. Our modern parables are ones that entertain while at the same time subtly teaching a gospel principle. Patterning ourselves after those anicent parables, we, as an LDS literary, musical and filmmaking community are committed to providing quality products to our consumers. While this site does not simply contain only those who produce in this community, every member is a practicing member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

As a former student of both Ricks College and BYU-Provo, I studied English non-teaching (Creative Writing wasn't an option back then -- okay, I'm not that old) and fell in love with my sweetheart, Alvin. We have now been married for 10+ years (read the whole story at www.candacesalima.com/authorbio.htm) and shower all our love on our nephews, nieces, as well as the children and teenagers who we teach. We feel very blessed to be where we are at this time.

In the meantime, I write, promote, and travel the nation lighting the fire of literacy in the hearts of people everywhere!
